Watch: Large Crowd Chants ‘USA’ as Trump Arrives at Football Game

Former President Trump received yet another warm welcome at a major sporting event on Saturday when he showed up at the South Carolina-Clemson college football game, one of the most intense rivalries in college sports.

Prior to his arrival, a large crowd of students and fans of both teams chanted “USA” as they waited by an entrance at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

Trump’s motorcade soon arrived outside the stadium, causing a separate crowd to erupt with applause. The former president then exited a black SUV and proceeded to wave to and mingle with supporters lined up outside the fence. “USA”

USA chants and cheers continued after the president made his way to a box seat.

Earlier in the day, the Trump campaign announced a lengthy list of new endorsements from political leaders in South Carolina. “Today, President Donald J. Trump expanded his South Carolina leadership team to over 80 current and former Republican officials endorsing his campaign, including some who previously supported Senator Tim Scott,” the campaign wrote in an official press release. “President Trump has the most endorsements of any candidate running for president, including South Carolina legislators, than all opposing candidates combined.”

The latest endorsements include State Reps. Bruce Bannister, Jeff Johnson, Weston Newton, Brandon Cox and Mark Smith, as well as State Senator Ronnie Cromer.

Trump has previously secured several high-profile endorsements despite running against the state’s former governor and until recently, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC). This includes Governor Henry McMaster, Attorney General Alan Wilson, U.S. Reps. Russel Fry, William Timmons, and Joe Wilson, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, and dozens of additional state lawmakers, mayors, and additional current and former Republican officials.

South Carolina played a major role in Trump’s road to the nomination in 2016 and is widely seen as the state where his campaign took off and never looked back. Once seen as a firewall state for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Trump managed to carve out a win among the crowded field that included Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Marco Rubi0 (R-FL), and Bush.

According to a number of recent polls, Trump has maintained a sizable lead in the state over Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. According to November’s Winthrop University poll, the former president commands a firm advantage over his challengers with 52 percent of the Republican primary vote. Haley trailed in second place with 17 percent of the vote while DeSantis lagged behind in third with 11 percent.
