Former President Trump on Friday encouraged his voters to write on restaurant receipts to spread the word of his proposal to eliminate taxes on tips.
Trump made the remarks at an event celebrating his 78th birthday in West Palm Beach with members of Club 47.
The former president told the crowd that as part of his plan for further tax cuts, he would eliminate taxes on tips for “restaurant workers, hospitality workers and anyone else that gets tips.”
“No tax on tips, okay? It’s done. Done. And we need to spread the word so that every time you leave a tip for the next five months, you put on the receipt, vote for Trump, because there’s no tax on tips,” Trump said.
Trump first proposed the idea of eliminating taxes on tips during a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday.
Trump reiterated these ideas while addressing the “People’s Convention” of Turning Point Action in Michigan on Saturday.

“I have announced that I will eliminate taxes on gifts for restaurant workers and hospitality workers. And anyone else who relies on tips, no more taxes on tips! None,” Trump said, noting that Kid Rock had taken up the suggestion to write on restaurant receipts.
Kid Rock shared a picture of his receipt from Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, for which he left a $400 tip.

“A vote for Trump is a vote for no tax on tips!” the musician wrote.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also shared a post on X, showing a photo of her receipt for which she left a $120 tip.

“Vote Trump! No tax on tips!!” Greene wrote on the receipt.
Trump told the crowd Friday that restaurant workers, hotel workers, and caddies would most benefit.
“I think it’s going to be a great thing. You know they earned it,” Trump said, adding: “somebody does a good job is supposed to pay tax on it. So, we’re ending that immediately, effective immediately when we get in.”
Used to be no taxes on tips back in the day.
Tips should NOT be taxed! Greedy democrats want a cut on everything! FJB! Trump 2024!
The main difference is Trump will deliver
Biden Is All Buy Votes BULLSHIT!!!!
LIKE WHATS IN HIS DIAPER RIGHT NOW
TRAITOR JOE SATAN HITLER BIDEN SHOULD’VE BEEN HANGING BY THE NECK ON JAN 21st 2021
BIGGEST GENOCIDAL TREASONOUS TRAITOR IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!!! FACT!!!!
I have this really bad feeling that the real reason Putin has war ships off the Florida coast is because Biden and Obama have arranged an attack on Mara Lago to get Trump. I pray I’m wrong but I am very very concerned and the feeling I get is overwhelming.
Eliminate Sales Taxes on FOOD.
It’s a double-edged sword. Benefits servers et al. in the short-term but knocks down a lot from future SS benefits. I went thru the Reagan era of taxing tips and I was mad at first till years later it was time to draw SS…then I was relieved that the 8% of tip income was counted toward my SS benefit amount! Thank you, Ronald Reagan (who could see farther than I could at the time)!
It is a double edge sword unfortunately. But sadly most people are working more than one job as it is. My husband has a full time job and works as a waiter as a second job. It pays our rent and anything extra we want/need in the month. Cutting the taxes away is good during the depression period but yes, needs to be reinstated once the economy gets back swinging again. I don’t like taxes but it’s the only way to get the benefits we earn.
I’d agree if tips were truly a gift, a gratuity, but if the worker is paid a lesser wage and relies on tips for a living, it’s no different than the rest of us. It’s really no different than piece work or working for a commission. The best make big bucks for a very good reason.
I was a server for many years and then an assistant manager for a restaurant. I fought the whole tip tax thing for years! Also fought the having to claim my tips to my boss and they took that off our check! Crazy stuff. I also do not like places that make a tip mandatory. A tip is gratuity. Period. If the server gives good service, then they deserve a tip. Only then. Your always going to have people that do not ever tip or a jealous wife, husband, date, remove your tip from the table when significant other wasn’t looking. ” Yes, that happens more than you would believe.” Not to mention with Biden in office, eating out is an expensive thing to do. So, tips are probably less. To the tippers out there, if the food taste like crap, see the manager. This should not go against a server that brought it to you . Glad to hear our next president will drop the tax on the tip! Go Trump!!!!
