Female Swim Star Riley Gaines Gives Keith Olbermann a Reality Check After He Calls Her a Bad Swimmer

Keith Olbermann’s temper and characteristic difficulty distinguishing fact from fiction continue to get him into trouble. On Thursday, 64-year-old Olbermann lashed out against All-American, all-female swim star Riley Gaines, suggesting she “sucked at swimming.”

The accomplished 23-year-old athlete — not the first woman whose success has apparently enraged the former sports commentator in recent weeks — responded with a reality check, using her trophy collection to evidence the extent to which Olbermann was wrong yet again.

Gaines, an advocate for keeping men out of women’s sports and the host of “Gaines for Girls,” highlighted a Wednesday tweet from Nebraska state Sen. Megan Hunt in which the leftist former Democrat bemoaned Gov. Jim Pillen’s executive order “Establishing a Women’s Bill of Rights.”

TheBlaze previously reported that the order acknowledged the biological differences between men and women and stressed that there “are legitimate reasons to distinguish between the sexes with respect to athletics, prisons or other detention facilities, domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, locker rooms, restrooms, and other areas where biology, safety, and/or privacy are implicated.”

Hunt called the order “offensive and ridiculous” and accused Pillen of “putting Nebraskans in danger.”

Gaines, who previously indicated a transvestic athlete exposed himself to her at a swim meet, responded to Hunt with an intimation she had beclowned herself by fussing over a realistic definition of a woman.

Apparently scrambling for a new cause with the Russia collusion hoax dead and buried, Olbermann seized upon Gaines’ remarks, writing to her, “Can you address the reality and move past it? You sucked at swimming. That’s why you lost.”

Despite receiving a fact-check on his tweet, which noted, “Riley Gaines was a very successful swimmer ending her College ‘Wildcat’ career as one of the most decorated swimmers in the program’s history,” along with some of her other accomplishments, Olbermann was neither swayed by the historical record nor finished attacking the young woman.

On Thursday, Olbermann tweeted, “Happily for nasty, stupid, unsuccessful transphobe @Riley_Gaines_ she has no reputation to ruin.”

Gaines first responded, “Ah, makes sense now why you got fired from ESPN,” referencing one of the times Olbermann was kicked to curb by a media organization.

She then gave Olbermann a virtual tour of her trophy collection, noting some of her accolades, including three SEC titles, a second-place finish nationally, SEC “Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year,” and All-SEC first-team honors.

“Oh look, another one,” she said gleefully, referencing another gold trophy sitting on her shelf. “That’s when I broke the the 200 butterfly record, the SEC record, which I still hold, making me one of the fastest Americans of all time.”

Brandishing another symbol of her success as a female athlete, Gaines said, “Keith, I’d be really sad if I broke this trying to prove a point to an old man who can’t even seem to keep a job, but I’ve got more of these — so I’m not. Thanks, Keith!”
