Black Men’s Support for Trump Doubles in Key Swing States

Former President Donald Trump’s support among black men has increased in battleground states ahead of the 2024 election by more than double his support among the same group in 2020’s election, according to a poll published on Thursday by The Wall Street Journal.

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has long sought to gain support among black voters, traditionally a Democratic-supporting demographic, by touting his record on the economy and criminal justice reform while in office, among other matters.

A recent poll estimated that 30% of black men in seven battleground states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — “definitely or probably” plan to vote for Trump in November’s election, an increase of 18% from his nationwide performance among that demographic in 2020, where he earned 12% of their votes, the Journal reported.

Trump’s support among black women also increased by a smaller amount, to 11% in the current poll from 6% in 2020, the Journal reported.

Among college-educated black voters, Trump’s support increased by ten percentage points to 18% currently from 8% in 2020, while support among black voters without a college education increased by 12 percentage points to 21%.

“[President Joe] Biden is further off than where we have seen Democrats in the past,” said Michael Bocian, one of the pollsters who conducted the survey for the Journal.

“I think winning back more Black men is going to be key for him.”

On average, Trump leads Biden by 0.2 percentage points nationally, according to RealClearPolitics. When third-party candidates such as Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Cornel West and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are included, Trump’s lead increases to 1.9 percentage points on average.

Trump also leads Biden among polls of young voters ages 18-35, according to Politico, a major shift from the last election when Biden won this voting bloc.

The poll was conducted between March 17 and 24, 2024 and surveyed between 218 and 354 registered voters. The margin of error ranged between 5.2 and 6.6 percentage points.

Anyone who votes for Biden because they might not like Trump are asking for big problems. Biden has driven America to her knees. Other countries are looking at us like we are weaklings. I is not the people who are weak, it’s the jackass sitting in the basement of the WH in his dirty diaper. I think it’s awesome that more and more minorities will put a check mark next to Trump’s name when it comes time to vote. TRUMP 2024!
