One year out from the 2024 primaries, here is the debut Fox News national survey on the presidential nomination races. Spoiler alert, former President Donald Trump looks formidable, while President Biden faces doubt.
Republican primary voters were read a list of 15 announced and potential candidates for the 2024 nomination. Trump tops the list with 43%, followed by Ron DeSantis at 28%, Nikki Haley and Mike Pence at 7% each, and Greg Abbott and Liz Cheney at 2% each.
All others receive 1% or less. Even at this early stage, only 3% are unsure of their pick.
Among Republican primary voters, men, women, those under and over age 45, and those without a college degree all put Trump first and DeSantis second. The Florida governor is ahead among those with a college degree and those who think Biden was legitimately elected, and the two are within a point or so among suburban voters and those with higher incomes.
“Currently, the GOP primary dynamics are simple,” says Daron Shaw, a Republican, who conducts the Fox News survey with Democrat Chris Anderson. “DeSantis needs Trump to falter because most of the former president’s supporters see the Florida governor as the second-best choice. At the same time, other candidates need DeSantis to falter because his supporters have no single fallback option and would be up-for-grabs should he flame out.”

While 37% of Democratic primary voters want to keep Biden as their party’s nominee, a majority of 53% says they would like someone else to run.
That support for Biden pales in comparison to what Trump received four years ago. In February 2019, at this same point in the election cycle, 72% of GOP registered voters wanted to keep Trump as their party’s nominee – nearly double Biden’s current support.
Meanwhile, 84% of Democratic primary voters approve of the job Biden is doing as president.
“They like him and the job he’s doing, even if they might wish for an alternative in 2024,” says Anderson.
Roughly equal numbers say they plan to participate in the Democratic (40%) and GOP (41%) primary or caucus in their state. Four years ago, in March 2019, it was 41% Democratic and 38% Republican.
Overall, 77%, favor requiring mental competency tests for politicians over age 75.
Fifty-one-year-old Haley suggested the cognitive exams during the first week of her 2024 campaign. The tests would apply to both Biden (age 80) and Trump (age 76).
More Millennials (83%) and Gen Xers (84%) want the tests than Baby Boomers (66%), and more Republicans (87%) and independents (74%) favor them than Democrats (67%).
Conducted February 19-22, 2023, under the joint direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), this Fox News Poll includes interviews with 1,006 registered voters nationwide who were randomly selected from a voter file and spoke with live interviewers on both landlines and cellphones. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for all registered voters and plus or minus 4.5 points for Democratic and Republican primary voters.

I don’t know how everyone else feels but President Trump is the one i will only vote for period. If the Rinos push their candidate and say it’s either them or a democrat i won’t vote. If this country is to go down the drain then it will be by a democrat and not a Republican. Rinos are the real reason the country is the way it is because they are sell outs, liars, democrats and cowards.

Biden had lost it by the time he was VP! Trump is sharp as a ta…syringe! No comparison. Trump is much sharper than Haley ever was, or could be. Trump PROVED HIMSELF to us as being the MOST Conservative Republican there’s EVER been. I’m Pro-Life, and I agree with Trump that the demands from the Left (because they’re too toxic to be from the Right) for ‘100% No Abortions’ HURT Repubs. a LOT in 2022. That’s an IMPOSSIBLE DEMAND from ANY politician.
Trump came the closest – closer than ANY OTHER Politician EVER in our History to being/campaigning ‘Pro-Life’, but that does not mean America is ‘ready’ to go 100% Anti-Abortion! We have to be reasonable. We can’t expect to hold our politicians to an IMPOSSIBLE DREAM of a zealous religious sect of the population! who insists on holding an ‘all or nothing’ Demand to one of the most controversial subjects of our Time. What we CAN DO is work in the best possible way to reduce Abortions as much as is reasonable and acceptable to reasonable people. And we are doing that! is it perfect? No. But it meets America where America IS right now, and that is the BEST we can do with what we have to work with – a population who is largely unchurched today! Even the Pope does not take that hard a stance, as he gleefully courts people like Pelosi and Biden at his quarters.
Trump also respected Israel’s existential rights to peace and freedom – as no other President before him has. Trump got our country up and running again after BO’s malaise and quagmire, got us out of Wars, and furthered Peace on all fronts that before him were dwindling and falling apart – as no other President has done! And he’ll do it again, because now he KNOWS so much more about ‘how Washington works’ than he did even then with all his great successes! I love what DeSantis is doing – for Florida, and leading the way for other Govs. to follow in his steps. Awesome! But we need him THERE in FL the most, and certainly NOT as VP. Biden/Dems are destroying America.
We NEED a Fighter and someone who is is NOT easily offended, like Haley. Trump FIGHTS FOR US, and the least we can do is to Vote for him to finish the job he started, before he got hammered 24/7 by an illegitimate press and a corrupt ‘deep state’ working for Clintons, Soros and now Zelensky. We NEED a President! who KNOWS what to do, and then DOES it – just like he did when he set the wheels in action ahead of everyone else to fight the Covid monster, now we know put in place to wreak havoc and misery on us. And Trump is READY.
And I’m sorry, but Trump wasn’t finished. And he deserves the chance to get back in there and FINISH the things he started and planned to do! He deserves that from us.
And there’s STILL NO ONE BETTER than Trump for the job he’s ALREADY PROVEN he can do! And do WELL. It would be one more insult upon insult to not let him, which is JUST WHAT the Left wants (including ‘establishment’ Repubs and elites! But it is altogether fitting to put him back in his office, to let him finish the race he started so well – especially when you consider the dastardly things done to him that fraudulently interrupted the great race where he was leading the pack! by a mile! It’s the LEAST America should do for him. And WELCOME him back with open arms!
