Dozens of NYC Seniors Evicted From Nursing Home Turned Into Migrant Shelter

Dozens of seniors in New York, including a 94-year-old Army veteran named Frank Tammaro, were evicted from their senior center, which was then converted into a migrant shelter.

City officials have estimated that tens of thousands of migrants have entered the city since last spring, which is costing around $5 million per day. Mayor Eric Adams, who previously boasted about NYC being a “sanctuary” for migrants, has more recently complained about the influx of migrants.

Tammaro told Fox News that he had lived in the center for five years, and intended to spend the rest of his days there until he and the other members were notified that they were being kicked out. After he was evicted, Tammaro’s family found out that the center was turned into a migrant shelter.

“I do get upset when I see them handing out all this money and all these things, and I’m paying taxes and getting kicked out,” Tammaro said. “I’ve never got anything from the city. Or the state.”

The veteran’s daughter, with whom he now lives, echoed the same sentiment. “I don’t understand it at all. It’s not fair to anybody,” Barbara Annunziata said. “These migrants, they’re getting everything. They’re getting everything and I can’t get nothing for [Tammaro]. It angers me.”

“I can’t even get him an aide,” she continued, noting that her father’s insurance rejected long-term requests for care. “I only could get him an aide for 30 days and then they cancel it. So what, he has to pay for it then?”

To try to address the influx, city officials earlier this year started to house migrants inside school gyms, which upset NYC residents. Parents complained that their kids lost access to recess and some sports and were basically put on “lockdown” since there were strangers living at their schools.

“I don’t mind giving a helping hand, but when it interferes with the education of our students, I do care,” one New Yorker complained.

“It’s not fair, and it only happens in low income communities, where children are failing and not empowered in any way,” the resident added. “It makes me angry.”

Notably, now that Mayor Adams is dealing with the border crisis directly, he’s changed his tune on the migrant issue. He’s criticized the Biden White House, but also still blames congressional Republicans.

“It is the irresponsibility of the Republican Party in Washington for refusing to real immigration reform, and it’s the irresponsibility of the White House for not addressing this problem,” Adams said back in May.

Don’t you love how the Democrats want to blame the Republicans for the immigration problem! When in truth both parties have had the majority at one time or another with a president of the same party yet nothing was done. The only answer is they ALL benefit from the border crisis’ and the taxpayers cries are an after thought. Its past time we kick them all out and vote in representatives that share our desire for a secured border.

The easiest way to solve the probelm is ship everyone of them back to where they came from.

Hey New York. Call up Texas and ask them how they handle it.
