Vivek Ramaswamy Explains How He’d Shut Down the FBI Without Congressional Permission

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said Friday that a president already had the power to shut down agencies, including the FBI, without going through Congress.

Ramaswamy previously expressed support for shutting down the FBI following the release of a report by Special Counsel John Durham on the origins of the FBI investigation of allegations that former President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russia.

He also has vowed to pardon people convicted in what he called “politicized prosecutions,” including former President Donald Trump.

“I’m coming in with a clear-sighted view, Glenn, of shutting down most of the administrative state,” Ramaswamy told talk show host Glenn Beck shortly after his interview with Tucker Carlson, a co-founder of the Daily Caller and Daily Caller News Foundation. “First of all, do it on strong legal authority, so I’m a unique combination. I don’t like to brag a lot, but I’m a CEO, but I’ve also studied the Constitution deeply and the Supreme Court right now shares my view of the Constitution.”

“The U.S. president already has statutory authority, the Presidential Reorganization Act of 1977, says you can shut down redundant agencies,” Ramaswamy explained to the former Fox News host. “Well, when I look at what the DEA does and what the U.S. Marshals do, there’s my legal justification for shutting down the FBI without asking Congress for permission or forgiveness.”

Ramaswamy also said that civil service law was being misread when it came to reducing the number of government employees.

“Civil service protections protect against the individual firings of employees for supposedly political reasons,” Ramaswamy told Beck. “They do not apply to mass layoffs, and mass layoffs are absolutely what I’m bringing to Washington, D.C.”

Very smart young man. Could be the next Trump, no political background but can run a business. If he could drain the swamp, that is something Trump did not do. He should have done it to begin with when the Congress was republican.

Not so – too many rinos. Remember thumbs down McCain?

Unfortunately, when the Republicans were still in the majority, Paul Ryan, who had been Mitt Romney’s running mate in 2012 when Obama was elected, was speaker of the House from 2015 to Jan 2019. He derailed Trump’s efforts to “drain the swamp”, “build the wall”, pass immigration reform, and used budget continuing resolutions instead of trying to cut wasteful Federal spending. Americans disappointment with House Republicans failure to achieve 2016 campaign promises probably contributed to losing the majority in the House in 2018..

Sometimes I believe it IS a smart thing to keep your cards held close to the vest. IF he has figured a way to circumvent Congress and then verbalizes that on the National Stage 18+ months out – you don’t think that the Democrats or Power that Be aren’t going to draw up Legislation to BLOCK exactly what process/procedure he plans on doing. I think him revealing the loopholes this far in advance was STUPID to do when the majority of America does NOT trust any Democrat, the FBI and all other Govt Agencies. He was too busy PEACOCKING, someone needs to play Devil’s Advocate to him ahead of time and challenge what items and those processes he intends to BLAB on the Campaign Trail. I had such high hopes for him to kick DeSantis & Chris Christie to the curbside – because he had Corporate Experience, Extensive Business Experience but if he doesn’t know when is the appropriate time to reveal ALL of his plans vs. giving the public a PROMISE of what he WILL accomplish and can’t discern….. Shameful Mistake that may cost him. The Democrats don’t play fair or ethical and no doubt they wrote down HIS plan and they will either write Legislation if it appears they are losing in a landslide OR if the Republican take a full sweep and capture the Majority in Congress and in The White House they’ll know – what to expect and undoutedly will avert it. Why, not hand over ALL of your plans should you prevail, at this point in time? THIS is why Dems always seem to have the upper hand; because Republicans still feel as if others should be trusted, have morals and values and would never do anything shady…..Oh Vivek ….. I don’t think President Trump would be interested in you as a VP because you just don’t know when to keep your mouth shut –
