U.S. Congressman Passes Away

Earlier today, the family of U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-NJ) announced his passing at the age of 87. The congressman, known for his deep-rooted connection to his hometown of Paterson, New Jersey, died Wednesday morning.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce that Bill Pascrell Jr., our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away this morning,” the statement read on X. “As our United States Representative, Bill fought to his last breath to return to the job he cherished and to the people he loved. Bill lived his entire life in Paterson and had an unwavering love for the city he grew up in and served. He is now at peace after a lifetime devoted to our great nation America.”

A seasoned Democrat from New Jersey, Pascrell Jr. made a significant mark in the U.S. House of Representatives with his dedication to several key issues, including tax reform, healthcare, and support for veterans. Serving since 1997, Pascrell represented New Jersey’s 9th congressional district, which includes parts of Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson counties.

Born on January 25, 1937, in Paterson, New Jersey, Pascrell’s early life in a blue-collar family shaped his political views and career. He attended Fordham University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and later a master’s degree in philosophy. Before his tenure in Congress, Pascrell made his mark in local government, first as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 1988 to 1996, and then as the mayor of Paterson, New Jersey. In Congress, Pascrell was known for his fiery spirit and commitment to the constituents of his district.

He was a vocal advocate for comprehensive tax reform, pushing for policies that ensure fairness for middle and lower-income families. His efforts were particularly focused on closing loopholes that benefit the wealthy and large corporations. Pascrell was also a staunch supporter of healthcare reform. He was an ardent supporter of the Affordable Care Act, viewing it as a crucial step towards universal healthcare. Pascrell was also equally passionate about veterans’ issues, consistently supporting legislation that aims to improve the services and benefits available to veterans and their families. One of Pascrell’s notable legislative efforts is his work on the Ways and Means Committee, the oldest committee of the United States Congress.

The role put him at the forefront of debates on tax policy, social security, and Medicare, allowing him to influence policies impacting his constituents and the American people at large. Beyond his legislative work, Pascrell was known for his stance on safety and emergency response issues. Following the September 11 attacks, he was instrumental in securing federal funding to enhance first responder preparedness and capabilities across the country. His commitment to public safety is deeply personal, reflecting his beginnings in Paterson. In recent years, Pascrell did not shy away from national and international issues.

The congressman was a critic of policies that he believed undermined democracy and human rights both domestically and abroad. His forthright style and willingness to speak his mind made him a prominent voice in the Democrat Party, especially on issues of corruption and abuse of power. He was regularly seen engaging with his constituents, attending local events, and addressing the needs of the local communities he represented.

No one should be allowed to stay in government that long. To do so only shows their love for power and position. If you have to wear absorbent disposable underwear, you shouldn’t be making decisions in congress. Especially if you belong to the criminal corrupt Marxist (D) party.

You know taxation without representation was an issue in revolutionary America. Now here we are again taxed to death for programs we don’t support. Do you feel represented? I damn sure dont.

87?!? What the hell is wrong with voters. At 87 his cognitive ability is on par with a 3rd grader. The voters in his district must all be special needs.
