Vice President of the United States: J.D. Vance

JD Vance was nominated by Donald Trump as his vice-presidential running mate during the Republican National Convention in July 2024. Notably, this selection made Vance the first Marine veteran to be nominated for the vice presidency on a major party ticket.

As Vice President-elect, JD Vance is expected to play a significant role in supporting President-elect Trump’s administration, especially in policy areas aligned with his own expertise and interests.

Secretary of State: Marco Rubio

Senator Marco Rubio has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of State. Rubio is expected to become the nation’s top diplomat, providing leadership in foreign policy and international relations.

Rubio’s relationship with Donald Trump has evolved over time. Initially, during the 2016 presidential campaign, they were rivals, exchanging personal and political attacks.

Scott Bessent is a well-regarded billionaire hedge fund manager and the founder of the investment firm Key Square Capital Management. Prior to establishing his firm, Bessent was known for his influential role at Soros Fund Management where he was the chief investment officer.

Bessent is recognized for his advocacy of tariff policies as a tool to enhance U.S. competitiveness and address trade imbalances, aligning closely with Trump’s economic platform. He has expressed support for deregulation and tax cuts and is keen on extending the tax cuts enacted during Trump’s previous term. Bessent’s economic strategies include a focus on noninflationary growth and fostering private investment.

Secretary of Defense: Pete Hegseth

Pete Hegseth, a well-known Fox News television personality and Army veteran, has been selected by President-elect Donald Trump as the Secretary of Defense.

This appointment marks a significant transition from his media role to overseeing the Department of Defense, the largest military organization in the world, with responsibilities that include managing a budget of over $800 billion and a workforce of approximately 1.3 million active-duty troops.

Pete Hegseth is known for his conservative views, often aligning closely with Trump’s “America First” policies. He has been critical of what he describes as “woke” policies in the military, advocating for greater focus on lethality and readiness.

Furthermore, he has expressed controversial opinions on the inclusion of women in combat roles and has dismissed the Geneva Conventions as outdated.

Attorney General (Department of Justice): Pam Bondi

Pam Bondi has been chosen by President-elect Donald Trump as the nominee for Attorney General, heading the Department of Justice.

Her involvement with the Trump administration dates back to her role as a defense lawyer during Trump’s first impeachment trial and her leadership of the legal team for the America First Policy Institute.

Pam Bondi’s legal and political career is extensive. She served as the 37th Attorney General of Florida from 2011 to 2019, becoming the first woman to hold this office.

As Attorney General, Bondi would oversee the Department of Justice, playing a critical role in shaping national legal policies and enforcing federal laws. Secretary of the Interior: Doug Burgum

Doug Burgum has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of the Interior.

Burgum’s role will involve leading the U.S. Department of the Interior, which is responsible for the conservation and management of the nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage

Doug Burgum is the Governor of North Dakota, a position he has held since 2016. Prior to his political career, Burgum had a successful business career, including the sale of his software company, Great Plains Software, to Microsoft for $1.1 billion. His tenure as governor was marked by efforts to boost economic development and energy production within the state.

As Secretary of the Interior, Burgum will oversee several critical agencies, including the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. The department also manages approximately 500 million acres of public lands and plays a crucial role in energy production, natural resource conservation, and cultural preservation

Secretary of Agriculture: Brooke Rollins

Lutnick has been a prominent supporter and advisor to Donald Trump, having served as the co-chair of Trump’s presidential transition team. Lutnick’s ties to Trump and his alignment with the administration’s economic goals, such as protective tariffs and business-focused policies, underline his appointment as a strategic choice for the commerce role

As Secretary of Commerce, Lutnick is expected to play a crucial role in implementing Trump’s economic agenda, particularly in areas of trade and industry regulation. This includes overseeing the imposition of tariffs, a central component of Trump’s economic strategy aimed at protecting American jobs and industries.

Secretary of Labor: Lori Chavez-DeRemer

She previously served as a congresswoman from Oregon.

As the Secretary of HUD, Turner will manage a department responsible for addressing the nation’s housing needs, enforcing fair housing laws, and overseeing housing for low-income Americans. HUD’s programs, with a budget of billions of dollars, range from reducing homelessness to promoting homeownership and providing rental assistance to low-income families

Secretary of Transportation: Sean Duffy

Sean Duffy, a former congressman and Fox Business host, has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of Transportation.

Sean Duffy served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 until 2019, representing Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District. During his tenure, he was a member of the House Financial Services Committee and chaired the Subcommittee on Insurance and Housing. Before his political career, Duffy gained public attention as a reality TV star and later transitioned into a role on Fox Business as a co-host of “The Bottom Line.”

As Secretary of Transportation, Duffy will oversee the Department of Transportation, which manages key aspects of the country’s transportation systems, including highways, railroads, air travel, and mass transit systems.

His responsibilities will also include regulation of automobile and aviation industries through entities such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Secretary of Energy: Chris Wright

Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy, has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of Energy and Member of the newly formed Council of National Energy.

As Secretary of Energy, Wright will lead the Department of Energy (DOE), which manages the nation’s energy policies, nuclear security, and energy-related scientific research.

The department plays a crucial role in regulating energy production, maintaining the nuclear weapons arsenal, and overseeing the national research laboratories. Wright will also be involved in approving natural gas exports, a key area given his background and expertise in fossil fuel production.

Secretary of Education: Linda McMahon

Linda McMahon has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump as the Secretary of Education.

Linda McMahon co-founded and led World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) alongside her husband, Vince McMahon, transforming it into a major entertainment enterprise. She served as the administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) during Trump’s first term, where she was praised for her management skills.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Doug Collins

Doug Collins has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to become the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, a role that will place him at the helm of one of the largest departments in the federal government.

Secretary of Homeland Security: Kristi Noem

Kristi Noem, the Governor of South Dakota, has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Kristi Noem has had a distinguished career in politics, serving as the first female Governor of South Dakota since 2019, after a notable tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives beginning in 2010.

If confirmed, Kristi Noem will oversee the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a vast agency tasked with a range of critical duties, including immigration enforcement, border protection, and emergency response.

The department, with a budget of $60 billion and hundreds of thousands of employees, encompasses numerous agencies such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Secret Service.
