As next month’s Republican National Convention approaches, it appears former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential search is intensifying.
Vice presidential candidates “recently received vetting materials,” five sources familiar with the process told NBC News.
NBC News confirmed that Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) is among those who have received materials.
He’s a familiar name in Trump’s wide-ranging vice presidential search and has appeared with the former president at campaign events along with his hush money trial.
The news organization also reported that Burgum and Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Tim Scott (R-SC), and J.D. Vance (R-OH) are his top four prospects.
Other names included Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD), Reps. Byron Donalds (R-FL) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and former Trump administration official Ben Carson.
“Sources plugged into conversations about the search cautioned that Trump is working from a fluid shortlist that at times includes more than a half-dozen names,” NBC News wrote. “Additions, subtractions and the emergence of dark-horse candidates remain possible.”
The news organization used no named sources in their reporting about Trump’s vice presidential search.
In 2016, Trump announced Mike Pence as his running mate just days before the Republican National Convention began.
He didn’t clinch the Republican nomination until late May that year, though.
He needs to find a way to be able to pick his son, Donald Trump, Jr. as his VP. He won’t lose a single Republican vote. He may pick-up more of the youth vote. Jr. is guaranteed to continue President Trump’s policies for another eight years.
No brainer, if we can get past the residency restriction.
That would not bode well. Firstly, the calls on nepotism would be through the roof. Second, Don Jr. does not have the personality for high office. He’s too angry. His father has charm and can crack a joke. I hope he never runs, frankly. I think JD Vance would be a great choice. He is very bright and has a promising future.
Burgum is a RINO who agreed with Pence on J6th, acknowledges Biden’s 2020 victory, supports military aid and using USA tax money for Ukraine, actively identifying carbon neutrality as a goal and avoided explicitly endorsing an investigation into Biden crime family. How can President Trump even look at him as a VP.
The others are OK but Burgum is garbage.
