New Details Revealed in Matthew Perry Death, Including Grim Discovery of His Body Underwater

Eerie new details are coming to light following the tragic death of Matthew Perry, who died of an apparent drowning incident at his California home Saturday. He was 54.

The Post can confirm that officials received a phone call reporting that the late actor was in his hot tub and not breathing.

The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at 4:07 p.m. and the Los Angeles Police Department at 4:10 p.m.

The caller’s identity has not been revealed by authorities, though TMZ has reported it was Perry’s assistant, who made the call after returning to the home after the actor had sent him out on an errand.

The “Friends” alum was reportedly found underwater.

“An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival,” the LAFD said in a statement obtained by The Post. “The patient was found by a bystander who had re-positioned the victim where the head was out of water.”

The statement continued: “Firefighters pulled the victim out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find he was deceased.”

As The Post previously reported, Perry’s parents, Suzanne and John Bennett Perry, and his stepdad, “Dateline’s” Keith Morrison, were later photographed appearing distraught outside the home, and the late star’s body was removed from the residence that night.

An autopsy has been completed, but a coroner ordered more tests, including toxicology. Results can take months. Additionally, a cause of death was “deferred.”

LAPD Capt. Scot Williams, who leads the Robbery Homicide Division, said Sunday that the “cause of death may not be known for some time, but at this point, foul play is not suspected.”

A source also told TMZ that prescription medications were recovered and will be part of the review, which is common practice.

Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on “Friends” for 10 years, launching careers for him and co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer.

The actors broke their silence on his passing on Monday.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” read their statement, obtained by People. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” the statement concluded. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane and executive producer Kevin Bright have also also spoken out amid the tragedy.

“We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was a brilliant talent. It’s a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us,” they said.

“We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment — not just to his work, but in life as well,” the statement continued. “He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart.”

Their last words included a nod to the naming of “Friends” episodes, which always began with “The One.”

“We send all of our love to his family and friends,” they concluded. “This truly is The One Where Our Hearts Are Broken.”

RIP, Matthew. There are very few Hollyweirdos that I have a shred of fondness for, but Matthew is one of the those few, because he was battling his drug demons, trying to overcome them, and, he made me laugh during one of the darkest times of my life.

Mist likely it was due to the vax , since he was a big supporter of it, and suffered a cardiac arrest!!

@DThon – I agree. Most likely a vax induced cardiac event. He was a HUGE pusher of the vax, proudly exhibiting his “Could I be any more vaxxed?” shirts. Appears he reached the limit.
