Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) revealed she still has not been informed of her ouster from the Freedom Caucus.
Instead, the congresswoman claims that she learned about the apparent ousting from the press.
“Congratulations, y’all did a great job. And I guess the Freedom Caucus does a good job of talking to you more than [their] members,” she told reporters, according to the Hill. “I don’t have time for the drama club.”
Greene was reportedly voted out just prior to Congress heading to recess for Independence Day.
At least one member claims that House Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry (R-Pa.) has attempted to inform her about the late June vote to push her out, but hasn’t gotten through.
“The chairman has been trying to call her to let her know, but there haven’t been any returned phone calls,” Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) told CNN.
The vote was taken roughly two days after Greene called Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Col.) a “little b—h” amid frustrations that the Colorado congresswoman allegedly stole her impeachment idea.
The Georgia congresswoman later confirmed and doubled down on the smear.
“She has genuinely been a nasty little b—h to me,” Greene told Semafor.
Despite harboring deeply similar political views, Boebert and Greene have long been at odds and even had something of a bathroom brawl earlier this year.
They were also at odds over the speakership vote for Kevin McCarthy (R-Cal.) and his initial offering in the debt limit fracas, the Limit, Save, Grow Act.
Additionally, Taylor Greene has, at times, ripped the Freedom Caucus’s tactics in the public domain.
All of this has seemingly brought Freedom Caucus relations with Greene to a tipping point.
Although on the outs with the hardline conservative group, Greene has also exhibited a friendly rapport with McCarthy, who is often in the dog house with the Freedom Caucus.
The Freedom Caucus has historically been a thorn in the side of GOP speakers.
Recently, for instance, a group of 21 conservative House Republicans, including many members of the Freedom Caucus and ones often aligned with it, sent a letter to McCarthy outlining demands for keeping the government funded.
Back in June, Congress passed legislation to expand the nation’s borrowing authority and set the top-line budgeting numbers.
But Congress still has to fund the government for the next fiscal year, which starts in October or risk a government shutdown.
McCarthy came to Greene’s defense amid news of her ouster from the conservative group.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene is a very good member, works hard, represents her district night and day, and she’s always here fighting for the process of what we’re doing,” McCarthy told reporters, per the Daily Beast. “I think it’s a loss for the Freedom Caucus.”
