Kari Lake Responds After New Report Says Trump is Considering Her for VP

On Tuesday, it was revealed that former President Trump is seriously contemplating the idea of selecting a woman as his running mate, and has expressed admiration for Kari Lake as a potential model for his vice presidential pick.

Axios reported “Trump is already gaming out the general election in November 2024 — and knows he has a massive weakness with the white suburban women he would need to beat President Biden.”

Lake is a former news anchor for the Fox 10 Phoenix television station in Arizona and has been a vocal supporter of former President Donald Trump.

“Anyone who thinks they know what President Trump is going to do is seriously misinformed and trying to curry favor with ‘potential’ V.P. candidates,” said Steven Cheung, a Trump spokesperson. “President Trump will choose his running mate on his own time, and those who are playing the media game are doing so at their own peril.”

“The characteristics Trump is most looking for are, ironically, quite like former Vice President Mike Pence, with whom he’s no longer on speaking terms,” Axios reported.

However, there are some drawbacks.

“But Trump friends say Lake carries a big downside: He wants no risk that his running mate could outshine him. Lake would be assumed to be angling for president from the day she entered the White House. She made a political trip to Iowa last month. And, of course, losing her winnable governor’s race (which she challenged) hurts her mojo.”

At the annual Conservative Action Political Conference (CPAC) over the weekend, Kari Lake emerged as the winner of her party’s Vice Presidential nomination in a straw poll. Among a group of 28 candidates, including prominent figures like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, Lake received 20% of the vote.

Despite Trump’s interest in Lake, she seems content on continuing her fight in the Arizona election in hopes to serve as Governor.

Her war room responded to the poll saying, “We’re flattered, but unfortunately our legal team says the Constitution won’t allow for her to serve as the Governor and VP at the same time.”

The Republican plans to continue to contest the outcome of the November gubernatorial election in Arizona, with hopes to pursue accusations of misconduct in the state’s highest court.
