Kari Lake Breaks Silence on VP Rumors

Kari Lake is finally starting to drop hints about whether she will accept a spot on the Republican ticket with former President Donald Trump.

The Arizona Senate candidate recently confirmed that she is looking forward to supporting President Trump’s agenda as a member of the upper chamber next year.

In order to push through many of the president’s second-term reforms, she said, Republicans must wrest control of the Senate away from Democrats.

“I’m running for the United States Senate in Arizona. We have an incredible opportunity to take back some Senate seats. We have to have a Republican led United States Senate because when President Trump gets back in office, and I do believe he will, he’s going to need to do his cabinet appointments through,” Lake told GB News.

She continued, “President Trump will find it really tough to get his agenda passed. His agenda is going to be to put America first, and I’m going to help in any way that I can.”

Asked by host Nigel Farage whether the rumors are true about her sitting on Trump’s shortlist for vice presidential candidates, Lake was circumspect.

“I want to help him in the Senate. I really think that he’s going to need help in the Senate. We have a chance to bring back that Senate majority. So I’m going to do whatever I can to help my country. I have two children and I worry deeply about their future. They can’t even fathom living the American dream. And so we have to get that back,” she said.

Watch:

The polarizing conservative, who previously ran for governor, has generated a slew of endorsements as well as a groundswell of support for Trump in a state he lost controversially to President Joe Biden in 2020.

Recent polling shows Biden trailing Trump 43 to 47 percent among Arizona voters, and a high-profile Senate race against Kirsten Sinema (I-AZ) may be just what the Republican leader needs to notch a repeat of his 2016 victory there.

Lake’s chances have also improved as Arizona’s border situation has deteriorated. Historic crossings have resulted in buses of migrants being transported through Phoenix International Airport, and her leading Democratic opponent, Congressman Ruben Gallego (D-AZ), has so far little to say about Biden’s failure to secure the border.
