‘I Don’t Talk to Fox News!’: Rep. Rashida Tlaib Blows Fuse When Reporter Confronts Her

Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib snapped at Fox Business correspondent Hillary Vaughn late Wednesday as she got confronted on the “death to America” chants in her district.

Participants at an Al-Quds Day rally in Dearborn, Michigan, chanted “death to America” as one speaker, Tarek Bazzi, called the U.S. one of the “rottenest countries” in the world in part for siding with Israel. Tlaib, an outspoken supporter of Palestine, has not released any statement regarding the chants.

“I don’t talk to Fox News!” Tlaib shouted as Vaughn addressed her in the halls of Congress.

“At a rally in your district, people were chanting ‘death to America,’ do you condemn —”

“I do not talk to Fox News,” Tlaib said.

“But do you condemn chants of ‘death to America?’” Vaughn pressed.

“I don’t talk to people who use racist tropes,” the congresswoman said.

“Why can’t you just say whether you condemn people that say death to Amer[ica] —” Vaughn asked. “Why are you afraid to talk to Fox?”

“Fox News is not — listen, using racist tropes towards my community is what Fox News is about, and I don’t talk to Fox News,” Tlaib said.

“Is ‘death to America’ racist? Is chanting ‘death to America’ racist?” she asked.

“I’m talking about your guys’ racist tropes. You know, you guys know exactly what you do and I know you ‘Islamaphobic,’ but you guys gotta deal with it on your own selves, you’re not gonna use me.”

The White House condemned the anti-America chants in a Monday statement to the Daily Caller.

“The White House condemns these abhorrent and Antisemitic remarks in the strongest terms. As President Biden has said, America is the greatest nation on Earth and a beacon to the world,” White House spokesperson Andrew Bates told the Caller.

Tlaib, a daughter of Palestinian immigrants, publicly blamed Israel in part for the terror attack carried out by Hamas that killed 1,600 people on Oct. 7 in a condemnation of the killing of Israeli civilians five days after the attack. She voted against a resolution in late October to support Israel and condemn the Hamas attacks along with “Squad” members Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Cori Bush of Missouri and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

The congresswoman pushed Hamas propaganda accusing Israel of bombing Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, which had been largely disputed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and U.S. intelligence. The U.S. obtained “high confidence” intelligence that Palestinian terrorists launched the rocket that caused the explosion, multiple outlets reported. The IDF accused Islamic Jihad of responsibility.

The House voted to censure Tlaib over her anti-Israel remarks on Nov. 7. Tlaib called the resolution a “shame,” saying her colleagues are more focused on “silencing” her than saving lives in Gaza.
