CBS Anchor and Morning Host Axed from Network Amid Mass Layoffs

CBS anchor and morning host Jeff Glor, 49, has been slashed from the network amid mass lay-offs.

Jeff Glor, 49, left CBS after 17 years with the company. His job is just one of 2,000 being targeted by the company, as Puck News announced on X.

Someone familiar with the situation told The New York Post they speculate Glor was let go because his salary was ‘too high’ and he had no interest in ‘office politics.’

His departure come as Paramount Global announced in a memo their plans for a second round of layoffs meant to shrink their US workforce by 15 percent, according to Deadline.

The company’s goal is to reduce expenses about $500million each year.

The memo reads: ‘Like the entire Media industry, we are working to accelerate streaming profitability while at the same time adjusting to the evolving landscape in our traditional businesses.

‘In order to set Paramount up for continued success, we are taking these actions. Days like today are never easy. It is difficult to say goodbye to valued colleagues, and to those departing, we are incredibly grateful for your countless contributions.’

Other CBS employees that have been left without their jobs are senior correspondents Anna Werner and Ben Tracy, as reported by Deadline.

Co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins said that 90 percent of the intended lay offs will be done by Tuesday.

Glor kicked off his CBS career as a reporter and anchor for Sunday Morning and The Early Show, later renamed This Morning.

In 2017, he took over Scott Pelley’s anchor role for the Evening Show. Two years later, Norah O’Donnell from 60 Minutes replaced Glor and he became a co-host of the Saturday Morning show.

He worked alongside Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson.

Paramount Global has been facing financial hardships. In the last quarter of 2023, the company lost $490million from its streaming sector.

Skydance Media has invested $8billion in Paramount Global, which CEOs hope will keep the company afloat, as reported by Deadline.

Paramount has made several cutback efforts that have already left hundreds jobless, with more to come as the next round of layoffs unfolds. Specific networks have also been hit by budget cuts.

After flaunting their Super Bowl success in February – Paramount made $7million for every 30 seconds of advertising – the company announced plans to say goodbye to 800 employees.

Paramount has shut down networks including MTV News in 2023, after announcing that 25 percent of the company’s total staff by the end off all rounds of layoffs.

In the upcoming round of layoffs, inside sources told The New York Post that CBS news will be heavily impacted.

ALL networks are planning to have their own streaming networks. CBS has Paramount. Right now CBS has blocked people using antenna for local stations. The others will follow. If you want to see CBS shows you have to buy Paramount to see them a day later OR buy Showtime too and you can watch in actual time. NBC, ABC, and etc will follow. You will have to stream each of their premier streaming to get them.

They can save even more money, just shut the whole thing down. They do not do news anymore, they do lies and brainwashing.
