Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher told former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile that he couldn’t see President Joe Biden winning a second term in the White House.
Maher spoke with Brazile on Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher” — and he argued that while he believed Biden was capable of doing the job for another four years, he did not think that the American people would elect him again because public perception was that he was “too old.”
Maher began with a comment from former President Barack Obama’s campaign strategist David Axelrod, who questioned the wisdom of Biden seeking a second term — and Biden’s response, which was reportedly to lash out at Axelrod and call him names.
“What do you think of prominent Democrats like David Axelrod calling for Biden to, quote, ‘get out or get going’ … Did he say that? Get out or get going?” Maher said.
“I believe in a tweet or two and some stuff. Look, people think that Joe Biden is is is perhaps too old. They’re right,” Brazile conceded.
“Perhaps?” Maher prompted.
“Don’t spill the water or something might come out of it,” Brazile continued, adding, “You know, everyone ages differently.”
Maher agreed, but Brazile continued.
“You know so, Betty White lived to be 99. Mick Jagger is still twisting his a**,” she said.
“I have been the one making that case year after year here against ageism. I always said it’s a case by case basis but …” Maher agreed, with one caveat: But for that argument to have teeth at all, you also have to be the person who can go, Yeah, but this is the case.”
“And I’ve said it before. Do I think Joe Biden can do the job? Absolutely. I don’t think he can win the job. And that’s what I care about. He’s going to lose. Because the people think he’s too old. And perception is reality. I’m sorry,” he concluded.
Brazile wasn’t convinced, however, and she pointed out the fact that people had predicted Biden would lose before: “I do not count out Joe Biden.”

If the democrats pull out all the stops like they did in 2020 Biden will win again, but I don’t see that happening. I don’t believe that Biden or Kamala is going to be on the 2024 democrat presidential ticket. It just isn’t necessary and it wouldn’t be smart. They’re seeing now how difficult it’s been to govern even with Obama calling the shots. The democrats are currently running a behind the scenes presidential candidate primary to replace Joe and the winner of that race will be their 2024 presidential.candidate.
