22-Year-Old St. Ambrose University Basketball Player Dies Suddenly

Patrick Torrey, 22, a basketball player at St. Ambrose University (SAU), died suddenly on November 19th, 2022, and his loss has left his friends and family in despair.

Patrick Torrey was a senior at St. Ambrose University, where he studied psychology. Patrick was a leader on and off the court, scoring 274 points and grabbing 235 rebounds throughout his basketball career at SAU.

“My cousin Tricia Torrey unexpectedly lost her only son Patrick Torrey last Saturday, November 19th,” Patrick’s aunt, Tricia Wilkins, wrote on the GoFundMe page she set up on Thanksgiving.

She continued, “Patrick was only 22 years old and leaves behind his mother Tricia, his father Tadd, and his sisters Christy and Olivia. If you knew Patrick then you knew what an amazing young man he was and how his short time here impacted so many. He was a senior at St Ambrose University in Davenport Iowa where he studied psychology and played basketball, a sport that was near and dear to his heart.”

“The family is of course shocked, saddened and completely devastated by this loss. We would like to help with some of the financial burden as they take time off work and prepare services for Patrick.

“If you can help with any amount possible please consider giving to the family. If you are unable to help financially your prayers would also be greatly appreciated. This is never an easy time for families going through what the Torrey family is and please know all your prayers, calls, and texts are so invaluable.”

Patrick’s cause of death is unknown at this time.

On Thanksgiving, Torrey was honored by the SAU men’s basketball team, who said, “Nobody was more thankful and grateful for the opportunity he had here at St. Ambrose as student-athlete.”

“Every single day after practice, he would say thank you and give a fist bump to the coaches,” the team said. “And we know most of his teachers have said the same thing of his thankfulness.”

SAU president Amy Novak released a statement following his death via Our Quad Cities:

To the St. Ambrose community and beyond,

I am saddened to report the sudden passing of St. Ambrose student, Patrick Torrey. Patrick was a senior and psychology major from Pekin, IL. He shared his talents with our men’s basketball program and his leadership and energy will be greatly missed by all.

I invite the entire community to join me in offering thoughts and prayers for Patrick’s parents, Tadd and Tricia Torrey, and all who have been impacted by this loss. May God wrap His arms around Patrick and his family and bring them comfort and peace during this difficult time.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our student services team for communicating with students about the resources and counseling services available on campus. More information about an on-campus memorial and celebration of Patrick’s life will be available in the coming weeks.

In Christ,

Amy Novak
President, St. Ambrose University

A prayer service will be held on Monday at St. Ambrose University. St. Ambrose University said the service is open to the public at 7 p.m. in the Christ the King Chapel, KWQC reported.

Is it just me or has anyone else notice they quit telling us if these young ppl died and had the jab?

    • Pissed Off Nurse says:

You won’t see hardly any news media telling us their vax status because that would lead to “vaccine hesitancy”! Damn straight I am going to be “hesitant” with the sudden deaths, cancer, heart & neuro diagnoses that suddenly started after the jab was put out. It is truly sick that anyone, including the media, refuse to even CONSIDER it as a possibility, let alone put the word out there about what is happening.

  • Pissed Off Nurse says:

I bet he had the jab. When are people going to stop thinking it’s just a coincidence that suddenly all these young, healthy people – many of them athletes – are dying and the one thing they all have in common is the poison. It is no coincidence. Our govt wants to kill us. I am convinced.

Yet the Aunt starts a GoFundMe page – tragic. Sue the damn college that illegally mandated their students to take an Unapproved- Experimental Drug/Vaccine and the Biden Govt that stripped him of his rights and “mandated” the same toxic clot shot that provides ZERO coverage & doesn’t stop transmission! The taxpayers cannot continue to give & give until it hurts – when all of these fraudulent companies are getting richer & richer – it’s time they are held accountable. Fauci is going to retire, on his govt pension and receive nearly 400K a year – how about suing him and all those who are dropping over gets a slice of his pension and Net Worth? Also, his boss Dr. Collins, then CDC Director, Walensky and there is a whole slew of officials that put their “scientific knowledge” to breathe life into this poisonous serum – – plus at least 3 pharmaceutical companies. It WAS Medical Malpractice, as they did not complete the clinical trials required – so their Informed Consent becomes invalid…. start there.
