14-Year-Old Georgia Shooter Identified — Faces Murder Charges, Will Be Tried as an Adult

A tragic active shooter situation unfolded at Apalachee High School on Wednesday morning, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and injuries to approximately 30 others, according to reports from CNN and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the school, located in Winder, Georgia, approximately 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. As of 2:23 p.m. ET, CNN confirmed that nine of the injured were transferred to local hospitals, while four people were confirmed dead at the scene.

Law enforcement officials quickly responded to the situation and were able to apprehend a suspect.

Now, authorities have identified the shooter as 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at the school.

Gray immediately surrendered to police when confronted by a school resource officer, according to Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey.

He is now in custody. Gray is facing murder charges and will be tried as an adult.

The tragic shooting has claimed the lives of two students and two teachers, and up to 30 others injured.

According to Channel 2, “One of the identified victims is Mason Schermerhorn, who was autistic and believed to have wandered away from the school after dismissal. Another victim, Richard Aspinwall, a coach at the school, was also fatally shot.”

Another victim of the tragic Apalachee High School shooting has been identified as David Phenix, a dedicated special education math teacher. Phenix was seriously injured in the attack and rushed to a nearby hospital after being shot in the hip and foot, with the impact shattering his hip bone, according to Daily Mail.

Phenix is currently in critical but stable condition, according to hospital sources, as doctors work to repair the extensive damage from his injuries.

RINO Kemp released the following statement following the tragedy.

Marty, the girls, and I are heartbroken by today’s tragedy at Apalachee High School. This is a day every parent dreads, and Georgians everywhere will hug their children tighter this evening because of this painful event.

We continue to work closely with local, state, and federal partners to make any and all resources available to help this community on this incredibly difficult day and in the days to come.

How the hell in this day and age does a gun owner father allow a 14 yo get access to an AR rifle?
This, after the kid was investigated last year for threatening the school. At a minimum this father needs to be charged as an accessory before the fact, for his failure to secure his guns. I’m sick of this! But will not give up my 2A rights because YOU can control your family.

    • Phil McCracken says:

@Curt Schuster: I understand your frustration, but nowhere have I seen that this POS kid got his weapon from his father’s negligence. IF that’s where he got it, then, yes, the father should be charged with the appropriate charges. But, he could have gottrn the gun elsewhere.

When I was 13 & my brother was 14, he had an arsenal no one knew about. Turned out he was a thief and had been breaking into houses, stealing anything he wanted, selling whatever he could, and then illegally buying guns from some guy he knew. This was in the mid-1970’s, and ironically, we lived in Georgia at the time. He got caught by our parents and sent to live with my Grandfather who straightened him out! He was a jerk until the day he was killed in a head on with a semi, but as far as I know, he never stole again, and he never hurt anyone in his life. He just really liked guns.

I agree – he could have got the weapon from the FBI for all we know. Pretty sad that at 14 years old your main objective is to kill your teachers and fellow students. America is definitely messed up and I believe our federal government is seriously the cause!

And still no photo of this kid … why?

His name is public, he’s being tried as an adult

We have seen the student and teacher victims

Google “Colt Gray” – his picture is out there. He is a caucasian kid. He has demon possession in his eyes.

I have to wonder how many different psychoactive drugs “the authorities” at the school were feeding him on a daily basis to make him comatose/compliant.

FBI knew about him a year ago and DID NOTHING. This is 100% on them. It’s called dereliction of duty. But hey, at least there’s more canon fodder for the Fascist Left/Democrat Master Race to rail about outlawing AR-15s.

  • Sherri Hostuttler says:

how many here think the kid has been arrested before? I do! bet he has been arrested a couple of times

  • One says:

The show trials last YEARS, and w/ most of these demented, deranged kids we never hear what the ultimate outcome of their fate ever is. Give the kid a shot of ‘truth’ serum and let him die. The ‘truth’ is – he should have never been born.
