A tease of Don Lemon’s contentious interview with Elon Musk has been released showing the X owner slapping back the reporter after repeated attempts to pin Musk down on accusations that he’s stoking fears of a “Great Replacement Theory” resulting from the waves of migrants arriving in American cities.
Lemon appeared on CNN, the network that not long ago fired him, to speculate that Musk is a supporter of the idea that Democrats are using the arrival of millions of migrants as a way to install new, anti-White illegal immigrant voters.
Referencing past posts by Musk, Lemon said “he doesn’t understand that sort of rhetoric he talks about, the Great Replacement Theory and a migrant invasion, that’s what radicalized shooters use in their manifestos.”
But a clip from their interview shows that Musk was refusing to back down on his belief that there is nothing racist about fearing that Democrats will eventually attempt to allow non-citizens to vote, as has already been done or attempted in a number of ultra-progressive cities like San Francisco, CA and Burlington, VT.
“I don’t have to answer these questions” about the Great Replacement Theory, Musk snapped at Lemon. “I don’t have to answer questions from reporters. Don, the only reason I’m doing this interview is because you’re on the X platform and you asked for it. Otherwise I would not do this interview.”
“Do you think you wouldn’t get in trouble or you wouldn’t be criticized for these things?” Lemon continued.
“I’m criticized constantly, I could care less,” Musk retorted.

Just hours after the interview was taped, Musk informed Lemon that his platform would not be continuing its contract with him to air exclusive, subscriber-based content. Lemon released his own statement in response, saying the two had a “good conversation” but Musk must have “felt differently.”

Lemon has not announced whether his solo venture will be carried on another platform. The longtime reporter was ousted at CNN after garnering widespread criticism for declaring Nikki Haley “past her prime” in a remark that was perceived as sexist. The blowback prompted a public apology from Lemon, but network leadership decided it was the last straw in a tumultuous tenure for a freewheeling reporter who acted at times as if the rules didn’t apply to him. In 2022, he declared women’s soccer “less interesting” than men’s, according to PEOPLE Magazine, and just several months later “screamed” in the face of female anchor Kaitlan Collins.
